Campaigns are supported by ongoing public relations activity through the year as part of broader tobacco control communications. Local news stories about crackdowns, seizures and prosecutions can remind the public they can do something to keep the trade out of their local area, generate intelligence, and create a deterrent on people tempted to sell it.
The Illicit Tobacco Partnership has prepared the Illegal Tobacco PR Guide August 2016 for Trading Standards and other colleagues to engage local media when there is activity to tackle illicit tobacco taking place.
